Metal detecting with Brian

A few weeks ago my old friend Brian came for a visit and we went metal detecting on some of my property down south of Blooming Grove, Tx in what was called Gradyville or Old Town. We dug up this old jar lid that was marked Talcolette. Looks to be made of copper. So lo and behold I found a perfect one being auctioned and bought it. Gradyville was an old west style town established about the time the Civil War ended by folks who were coming west from the war ravaged Old South. It had at least one saloon and hotel, apothecary, several doctors, general store, and more. Makes you wonder about the stories this old jar lid could tell.
