The 1955 football program

Stumbled across this old football program from the 1955 game between the Blooming Grove Lions and Frost Polar Bears. BG won the game 46-0 and went on to win the District Championship that year, but lost the Bi District playoff game to Whitney.
BG and Frost do not seem to play each other in football anymore, but the old timers around here tell some harrowing tales about pranks that were played between kids from the two schools the week before this big rivalry game each year.
I remember as a kid hearing about boys from one school pouring oil all over the other's field during the night. I am not sure who was the perpetrator and who was the victim. Another story I recall is about a young BG fellow who may or may not have been inebriated when he climbed atop a trailer loaded with square bales of hay and had his friends drive him under the Frost homecoming banner stretched across Garitty Street in that town. The plan was to pull down the banner but the story goes the truck drove out from under him and left him hanging on the banner.
I asked Sonny Boyd about his recollection of the rivalry and he remembered watching his older brother Charly score two touchdowns against Frost to win a game that was played in a quagmire of mud.
Something tells me there are a lot more tales to tell about this old rivalry. If any readers here would like to share, please do.
