I had the excellent luck to be wearing a Blooming Grove baseball t-shirt when I went to the Canton, Tx flea market one day. A friendly vendor from Hillsboro flagged me down saying he had something that I had to see. Indeed I was pleasantly surprised to find in his stash of collectibles this circa 1900-1910 mini whiskey jug advertising the Blooming Grove Mercantile Company, which sold mostly groceries and staples. It was a very popular thing in the Christmas season to buy these little "sample" whiskey jugs, run a red or green ribbon through the handle, (this one is missing it's handle) and give them to your friends and neighbors to spread a little Christmas cheer.

Blooming Grove Mercantile Company was incorporated in Texas in May, 1901.
